The short answer
Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW) and Kadıköy are both on Istanbul’s Asian side. You have four options:
- M4 metro: the cheapest; runs from the airport to Kadıköy without changing trains. Best for solo travellers with light luggage.
- Havabüs: airport bus to Kadıköy with a luggage hold; journey time depends on traffic.
- Taxi: door to door; the meter and traffic decide the fare.
- Private transfer: fixed price, meet & greet at arrivals, dropped at your door. The easiest option for families, groups and heavy luggage.
1. M4 metro (Kadıköy – Sabiha Gökçen)
The M4 line reaches Sabiha Gökçen Airport, so you can board below the terminal and ride straight to Kadıköy without changing. It is unaffected by traffic and takes roughly an hour. Pay with an Istanbulkart.
Good for: solo travellers with light bags. Note: trains get crowded at rush hour, and from Kadıköy station you may still have a walk to your hotel.
2. Havabüs airport bus
Havabüs runs regular buses from Sabiha Gökçen to Kadıköy. With a luggage hold it is more comfortable than the metro if you carry a suitcase, but the travel time depends on traffic. Check current times and fares on the official Havabüs website.
3. Taxi
From the taxi rank outside arrivals the drive to Kadıköy takes about 35–50 minutes in normal traffic. The fare is metered, so traffic and night hours change the price. Make sure the meter is running.
4. Private transfer (fixed price)
